If you were to make SRB2, what would you add/change/remove?
For me, I would bring in:
- Corona lighting for OpenGL mode
- Old graphics/sounds/music
- DEFINITELY bringing back the pre-2.1 monitors. The 2.2 and 2.1 monitors are ugly. x_x
- Make the cast more like the style of SSN/FSonic. Some hybrid between the two or go more of the FSonic style.
- Unique race/ringslinger maps that were left behind
- Old and new easter eggs
- The old title screen style
- Bringing back 2.0 ERZ, minus the wind tunnel (even if ERZ is outdated.)
- Cosmetics (i.e.: Chat sounds, getting hurt and KO'd, taunts ESPECIALLY!)
- Toggleable match mode playstyle (To switch between legacy and current)
- Relay gamemode: getting to the end of a level and then heading back to the start (essentially Pizza Time.)
- Yellow and Green teams for ringslinger + 4-team CTF
- Being able to switch your character color to a palette that represents the team you're on (ex: Blue Team gets Blue, Cornflower, Cobalt, Sapphire)
- Make ACZ3 a chase sequence with Fang across the train
- Bring back Mine Maze, Dark City, Doom Ship, and Blue Mountain (The RVZ2 concept)!
- Complete Red Volcano Zone and use the Angel Island boss with some extra flare to it, and have Fang pilot it!
- Visible health bar for bosses
- Merge Egg Rock and Black Core back together + Merging Black Core 1 & 2 into one stage
- Have a little elevator cutscene when completing ERZ2
- Have the special stages NOT be NiGHTS ones.
- Emerald Hunt gamemode: Search for three (at max, 6) emerald shards across match, co-op, & CTF stages + unique stages for emerald hunt)
- Not implement the breakfast sandwich for Sonic and instead give him the homing thok.
- Make Tails better at flying by letting him ascend higher and having the player hold the button instead of spam it.
- Make Knuckles more like 2.0/FD Knux by removing the landing delay and letting him glide infinitely in the air, giving him the legacy gliding style but also letting him build up speed the longer he glides.
- As an easter egg, make the Detons very menacing.
- THE OLD SUPERVIRUS EASTER EGG FROM JTE!!!!
- Unique maps just for you and your friends to hang out in.
- Bring back the holiday mechanic from the Final Demo days!
- Evilflower Zone as an unlockable: You start from the end of the acts and have to make your way back to the start of it, fighting the character you're playing as. also greenflower sounds nice when it's upside down
- As a secret unlockable, The Doom Marine! Since SRB2 was built from the DOOM Legacy Engine.
- Difficulty menu: Much like old versions of SRB2, you got Cakewalk, Novice, Experienced, Tough, Harsh, and the extras being Ultimate and Soviet!
- Dust Bowl gamemode: It's soccer (or football, for those outside of the west)! But with a tumbleweed (or the traditional ball if you want)!
- Deathmatch gamemode: It's a 1-vs-1 gamemode to pit two random players from the pool to the death!
- Golf gamemode: Play co-op (and golf) maps like golf! Whoever has the least amount of strokes in a session wins!
- Pool gamemode: Pocket the most pool balls in order to win!
- As an easter egg command: fun_playerswap: Scrambles everyone's names and characters around for fun! Get people mixed up and let them figure out who's who! Abilities match those of the swapped character, so as an example: If Knux and Shadow swap, then Shadow can't glide and Knuckles can't thok. Player A will have the name of Player B, and Player B will have the name of Player A. Perfect for the master of deception, roleplays, or machinimas.
- Juggernaut gamemode: One person is super beefed up! Everyone else has to try and take down the Juggernaut before they can kill everyone!
- Easter egg command: fun_fartblast: It's ridiculous, I know. This will essentially replace some sounds with fart sounds. Why? Just for the fun of it :p
- Hang gliders! As seen in the Arid Canyon museum, implementing hang gliders for players to cross large gaps! Functions more like Ray's Sonic Mania ability, with Forward and Backpedal tilting the glider down and up respectively.
- Easter egg command: roboblast1: Toggles whether or not the game plays like SRB1, with the movement and hurt bug. An updated version of the "killingdead" command.
- Flood gamemode: Oh no! SRB2 is being flooded! Quick, get to the highest point of a map before you're taken to Davey Jone's locker!
- Add in an extra zone tied to the Chaos Emeralds so that they're actually important: Great Comet Zone. Fight Brak Eggman in outer space so that his hands don't touch the Black Rock for good!
- Extra unlockable: Greenflower City: The calm before the storm.
It's a pretty lengthy list ^^"
But yeah, that's what I would bring to SRB2 if I was working on it. A bunch of legacy content that gets a facelift, some extra gamemodes, and some cosmetics and other things! The gamemodes and easter eggs I had the most fun thinking of.
