I know this will clash with the other sprites in the modern SRB2 series. What if they used a pre-rendered 3D model for the first version?

Of course, the only condition would be that I’m not the only spriter; I feel like doing all the sprites alone would be an absolutely massive undertaking, so as long as they bring in more spriters, it’s fine.
